Welltower's carbon footprint

Welltower reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2020 at 469 Kt (-37 /-7.3% y-o-y).

Welltower's Scope 3 emissions decreased to 378 Kt (-7.4 /-1.9% y-o-y). The rate of decline has slowed compared to the trend since 4Q'18 (CAGR -5.5%).

The company is committed to reducing all Scopes by 10% by 2025 from a base year 2018, which translates into the estimated reduction of -14 Kt per annum over the period of FY2021 - FY2025. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
