The company is committed to reducing Scope 1 + 2 by 55% by 2031 from a base year 2018, which translates into the estimated reduction of -17 Kt per annum over the period of FY2022 - FY2031. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
Also, the company commits to reducing Scope 3 by 33% by 2031 from a base year 2018, which translates into the estimated reduction of -106 Kt per annum over the period of FY2022 - FY2031. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
NEC also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. NEC Corporation commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 55% by FY2030/31 from a FY2017/18 base year. NEC Corporation also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel and energy related activities and use of sold products 33% by FY2030/31 from a FY2017/18 base year.
