GHG emissions and Carbon intensity

Citigroup reported Total CO2e Emissions - Location-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 508 Kt (-18 /-3.5% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity tumbled to 6.7 t (-2.4 /-26.4% y-o-y).

Citigroup's Scope 3 emissions declined to 126 Kt (-24 /-15.7% y-o-y). The decline accelerated compared to the CAGR of -5.9% since 4Q'17.

The company is committed to reducing Scope 1 + 2 by 45% by 2025 from a base year 2010, which it appears to have already achieved as of 2021. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
