This target is most likely outdated and the company appears to have already achieved it
GHG emissions and Carbon intensity
AECOM reported Total CO2e Emissions - Location-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 30 September 2020 at 112 Kt (-35 /-23.8% y-o-y).
AECOM's Scope 3 emissions declined to 5,734 Kt (
The company is committed to reducing Scope 1 + 2 by 20% by 2025 from a base year 2018, which it appears to have already achieved as of 2020. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
AECOM also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Overall Net-Zero Target AECOM commits to reach net-zero GHG emissions across the value chain by FY2040 from a FY2018 base year. Near-Term Targets AECOM commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 60% by FY2030 from a FY2018 base year. AECOM commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods & services, capital goods, and business travel 50% by FY2030 from a FY2018 base year. Long-Term Targets AECOM commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by FY2040 from a FY2018 base year. AECOM also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, capital goods, and business travel 90% by FY2040 from a FY2018 base year.
