Danone reported Total CO2e Emissions - Market-Based Scope 1 + Scope 2 for the twelve months ending 31 December 2021 at 978 Kt (-169 /-14.7% y-o-y). Also positively, carbon intensity decreased to 34 t (-7.6 /-18.3% y-o-y).
Danone's Scope 3 emissions declined to 23,733 Kt (
The company is committed to achieving net zero for all Scopes by 2050, which translates into the estimated reduction of -852 Kt per annum over the period of FY2022 - FY2050. This target, however, has not been recognised as science-based (and as aligned with Paris Agreement) by the SBTi.
Danone also has a science-based goal that, however, does not appear to explicitly target a company-wide reduction in emissions in absolute terms. Energy and industrial: Multi-national food company, Danone commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 47.2% by FY2030 from a FY2020 base year*. Danone also commits to reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel-and energy-related activities, upstream transportation and distribution, waste generated in operations, downstream transportation and distribution and end of life treatment of sold products 42% within the same timeframe. *The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks. FLAG: Danone further commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 3 FLAG GHG emissions 30.3% by FY2030 from a FY2020 base year**. Finally, Danone commits to no deforestation across its primary deforestation-linked commodities with a target date of FY2025. **Target includes FLAG emissions and removals.
